FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 18 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija met today in Vienna, on the sidelines of the Summit on the Western Balkans, with the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Sebastian Kurz.

Tegeltija said that Bosnia and Herzegovina nurtures friendly, traditionally very good relations with Austria and without open issues, which are inherited from a common rich history and intertwined culture.

He added that the cooperation is very developed in all areas, from politics, economy, culture and education, to defense and security, and pointed out that Austria is an important foreign trade partner and one of the largest investors in BiH.

During the meeting, Chairman Tegeltija emphasized BiH's interest in strengthening cooperation in the wood industry and in the field of information and communication technologies.

Chairman Tegeltija thanked Chancellor Kurz and the Republic of Austria for their help during the Covid-19 pandemic, and especially for their engagement in the process of providing 214,000 doses of vaccines for BiH.

He also expressed gratitude for the continued support to BiH on European integration, and hoped that Austria would continue to support BiH's European path in the coming period and remain a strong advocate of the Union's enlargement policy to the Western Balkans.

The interlocutors also touched on the issues of security and migration, and in that sense Tegeltija pointed out that the problem of migrants in BiH exceeds its capacities and that BiH unjustifiably bears too much burden of the migrant crisis, the Council of Ministers of BiH announced.
