SARAJEVO, June 18 (FENA) - An important lesson of the pandemic is that fake news and the spread of panic must be cut short at the outset. In such situations, the word of experts must be heard, the word of science must be heard, said today member of the Presidency of BiH Šefik Džaferović in Antalya at the panel "Regional Solidarity: Lessons We Learned from the Pandemic".
“COVID-19 pandemic was the first global crisis, a crisis that really hit the whole world, without exception. At a similar gathering like this, I heard a wording that says - the virus is non-discriminatory, it affected all people, without distinction,” said Džaferović during his address to the gathering.
At the very beginning of the pandemic, as he pointed out, we witnessed problems in functioning of multilateral mechanisms, primarily the United Nations.
We faced a shortage of necessary health funds. A similar situation was with vaccines. In such a situation, we received the support of other countries. I use this opportunity in Antalya to thank the authorities of the Republic of Turkey for helping BiH with vaccines.
That is why, he says, it is necessary to strengthen all multilateral organizations, starting from the United Nations, through the EU and NATO, to regional platforms. Because only together can we face modern challenges.
