USAID supports nine more local community reconstruction projects in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 3 (FENA) - After supporting nine reconstruction projects for the common good of all citizens, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has approved almost half a million KM for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of facilities that will contribute to peacebuilding and trust in nine more local communities.

The rehabilitation of the facilities is planned within the PRO-Budućnost peacebuilding project (Trust, Understanding, Responsibility for the Future), implemented by the humanitarian organization Catholic Relief Services (CRS) with partners in 75 local communities.

In 2021, the reconstruction of cultural and sports facilities was approved, as well as parts of the urban areas in Lopare, Bratunac, Domaljevac-Šamac, Gradačac, Kladanj, Gračanica, Srebrenica, Ugljevik and Doboj South. USAID has allocated up to 60,000 KM for individual projects, and local communities participate with at least 20 percent of their own funds.

It is planned that 25 such projects will be implemented by 2022, and each of the 75 communities in which PRO-Budućnost operates has the opportunity to apply for funds.

"USAID has allocated almost one million KM for 18 projects so far, and the PRO-Budućnost team will start a new round of meetings in the remaining local communities in June to present the criteria and application, to select seven more projects," said the PRO-Budućnost project's director Majda Behrem-Stojanov.
