Mitrović: We must formally resolve the issue of transit across borders

SARAJEVO, May 27 (FENA) - Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Vojin Mitrović said today that the transit of cargo vehicles through the disputed border crossings between BiH and Croatia has been agreed since yesterday.

Mitrović points out that activities have continued to formally and legally resolve this problem, and that he agreed with the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Croatia Oleg Butković to harmonize the Ordinance adopted on May 20, which is not in accordance with the 2013 Border Crossing Agreement.

“Croatia needs to harmonize the new Ordinance with the Agreement. At the moment, we have border crossings where the movement of goods and passengers is allowed, but we do not have roads that allow transport. The amendment to the ordinance will determine the routes that will enable the transit of goods through the Republic of Croatia, whereby the 2013 Agreement will have its full function,” Mitrović explained.

He points out that the problem with border crossings arose as a result of the irresponsibility of both sides.

He added that he had not signed any written agreement with Minister Butković, but that everything had been agreed with the conversation and based on the good will of the Croatian Minister to solve the problem and enable trucks to cross the disputed border crossings.
