KONJIC, April 16 (FENA) - The 28th anniversary of the killing of 22 Croats killed by the Zulfikar unit on this day in 1993, was marked by laying wreaths and lighting candles at the memorial site in Trusina near Konjic.
In the attack on the BiH Army unit commanded by Zulfikar Ališpago, the village was occupied in the early hours of the morning, after which 18 civilians and four Croat Defense Council (HVO) members were killed.
Fr. Ivica Karatović led the Mass for the deceased with the concelebration of six priests from Konjic.
“Let us no longer allow man to be a wolf to man, but let him be his lamb, that is. Jesus Christ who gave his life for others,” said, among other things, in his sermon, Fr. Ivica.
For the war crime in Trusina, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sentenced former members of the Army of BiH, Edin Džeko, to 13 years in prison, while Rasema Handanović was sentenced to five and a half years in prison on the basis of a plea agreement. Nihad Bojadžić was sentenced to 15 years in prison, Nedžad Hodžić was sentenced to 12 years and Mensur Memić to 10 years in prison.
Proceedings are currently pending before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Zulfikar Ališpago, commander of the Special Purpose Detachment "Zulfikar" of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he is on trial on charges of failing to take measures to punish subordinate members of ARBiH for killing civilians and soldiers.
