SARAJEVO, April 12 (FENA) - It is true that the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor said at a meeting in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina that there are some circles in the European Union that believe that the process of disintegration of Yugoslavia should be completed and only then to accept the Western Balkans into the European Union, member of the Presidency of BiH Šefik Džaferović confirmed for FENA today.
“I said that the process of disintegration of Yugoslavia is over. It is also true that President Pahor also asked whether a peaceful break-up in BiH is possible, to which BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić and I clearly said that those who advocate such ideas are leading this country and the entire region into a new war,” Džaferović underlined.
He added that Pahor agreed with that and then reiterated at the press conference that a strategic decision on faster integration of the entire Western Balkans into the European Union is very important for the peace and security of the entire Europe, the European Union and the Western Balkans.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, paid a visit to BiH in early March, and after a meeting with members of the BiH Presidency, he told reporters that Slovenia has traditionally been, is and will be an ally of the European Union's enlargement to the Western Balkans.
He then expressed his opinion at a press conference, which, he said, has only been confirmed over the years, that the enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans is the ultimate geopolitical issue and important for peace, security of the Western Balkans and the European Union.
