MOSTAR, April 2 (FENA) - President of the HDZ BiH and the HNS Dragan Čović on Friday welcomed a letter from the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, saying that the letter "perfectly complements everything that the legitimate representatives of the Croat people have been emphasizing for quite some time."
"The United States, along with the EU, is our most important geopolitical and geostrategic partner. These are our friends who have extended a hand to our country countless times so far. I welcome the letter from the US Secretary of State, Mr. Anthony Blinken, which perfectly complements everything that I, as well as legitimate representatives of the Croat people, we have been emphasizing for a long time. We take his statements as a strong motive to finally bring key political issues to an end. It is clear that no one will do it for us, but that it is our responsibility in which they can only help," pointed out Čović.
He added that the implementation of key provisions in the "Ljubić" and "Sejdić and Finci" cases marks the beginning of a new era in European Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"If it is necessary to make minimal constitutional corrections, we will do it. The constituent peoples and their legitimate representatives are the constitutional, social and political core of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is emphasized by the judgments of the BiH Constitutional Court and the International Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg," stated Čović.
Čović added that "by adjusting the unconstitutional provisions of the BiH Election Law we are strengthening the overriding constitutional principle of constitutivity and legitimate representation of the constituent peoples, while enabling everyone to run and be elected."
