SARAJEVO, March 25 (FENA) - Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Grubeša participated today in an online conference marking the closure of the project "Structured Sanctions Management for Violent Extremist Prisoners in Bosnia and Herzegovina".
The project aims to support the BiH authorities in increasing security in society by promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of violent and extremist prisoners after their release from prison.
The project is implemented by the Council of Europe with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Representatives of the Ministry of Justice of BiH participated in all segments of the implementation of this project and they have significantly contributed to the development of strategic documents, as well as manuals for dealing with violent and extremist prisoners.
Minister Grubeša opened the conference by welcoming participants from BiH and the region, and stressed the importance of open discussion and exchange of experiences on issues related to violent extremism in prisons.
"This project gave us an opportunity to analyze institutional shortcomings, as well as shortcomings in practical treatment, but also to gain the necessary knowledge based on good European practices when it comes to combating radicalization in prisons and managing violent extremist offenders. With the realization of the project, we have acquired skills to ensure the sustainable restructuring of our prison system in order to be able to effectively face these serious challenges," said Minister Grubeša in his address.
