SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina and presented a donation from the Hungarian National Directorate General for Hospitals to BiH at the Sarajevo International Airport, consisting of 40,032 pieces of PCR tests, Maccura brand, worth 163,850,976 HUF.

Szijjártó symbolically handed over the tests to the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Ankica Gudeljević, and to the representatives of the competent health authorities of the entities and the Brčko District.

Gudeljević said that the last days of BiH have been the biggest test so far in the course of the pandemic. She stated that the number of infected and sick people is growing every day, that unrest among the inhabitants is growing, hospital capacities are at capacity, medical staff is exhausted, but that the fight against the virus must continue with the same strength as if we were at the beginning.

"Today's donation of friendly Hungary and the National General Directorate for Hospitals of Hungary is more than welcome in these days when it is necessary to intensify testing of the population of BiH," Gudeljevic pointed out.

Expressing gratitude to the Minister and the people of Hungary, Gudeljević voiced her hope that soon we will all welcome better days together with much less infected and sick people.

"I want to encourage the people of BiH not to lose heart, and to hope that the vaccines that we paid a long time ago through the Covax mechanism will soon arrive in BiH," said Gudeljević.

"The healthier your neighbors are, the things are for you as well. That is why it was clear to us that we must help in any way we can. With a sense of solidarity with Bosnia and Herzegovina, this was the fastest way to help protect your citizens. We hope that this donation of PCR tests will be of great benefit to you in order to stop the spread of the virus. We know that this is the biggest challenge at the moment, and I hope that not only Hungary but the entire region will be able to get out of this pandemic very soon," said Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó.
