Western Balkans Fund connects people through joint projects

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 7 (FENA) - Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković, as part of her visit to the Republic of Albania, visited the Western Balkans Fund in Tirana and talked with WBF Executive Director Gjergj Murra.

It is a fund established at the end of 2015 by the foreign ministers of the Western Balkan countries, and whose goal is to encourage cooperation between Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, and to strengthen neighborly relations and regional connections.

During the conversation, it was pointed out that the work of this fund has multiple meanings, because through the implementation of joint projects, it connects people in the entire region.

“The Fund is of great importance especially for the younger generations, because through their work in different countries they should learn to respect, appreciate and understand each other. Cooperation in this area is necessary, because only in that way can we have a developed and stable region, and progress towards the European Union,” said Minister Turković.

It was also pointed out at the meeting that the announcement of the reopening of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Albania is an important move that will contribute to improving relations between the two countries, but also increase the interest of BiH organizations in applying for Western Balkans Fund calls, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
