Džaferović: Publication of Genocide Papers proof that we will continue to fight for the truth

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 1 (FENA) - After the Srebrenica Memorial Center presented today the findings of the research project "Genocide Papers", member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović said that the project represents a serious institution that preserves the memory of genocide victims.

The transcripts contain a set of searchable transcripts of the sessions of the so-called Assembly of the Serb People in Bosnia and Herzegovina/National Assembly of the Republika Srpska in the period 1991-1996.

“The Memorial Center is on the path of becoming one of the most respectable institutions in the world of that type. But we also owe it to the victims of genocide to have a project like this. I thank the Memorial Center for taking such steps,” Džaferović added.

He says that he read the verdicts of The Hague Tribunal in detail and that it is completely clear that both the military and political leadership of the then so-called Republika Srpska planned, knew, and carried out genocide at that time.

“There is no dilemma for me and that does not surprise me. It is no coincidence that the International Court of Justice in The Hague ruled that the RS army was responsible for the genocide. It is no coincidence that numerous decisions of The Hague Tribunal were made. It is no coincidence that the verdict against Ratko Mladić and Radovan Karadžić and others who committed genocide,” said Džaferović.

He announced that the fight for truth and justice will continue and that the publication of transcripts is one of the indicators for that.

It is an online platform that aims to provide researchers, scientists, civil society organizations in the region, the media, and all those interested in genocide research with a simple insight into the most important decisions of the then leadership of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These documents have been public before but were inaccessible and their formats did not make it easy to search for content, and the Memorial Center recognized them as important in raising public awareness of the wider political consensus on the genocide operation against Bosniaks throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
