SARAJEVO, February 28 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Staša Košarac said that the European Commission had submitted to BiH an assessment of the questionnaire for red meat exports from BiH to the EU market, with additional recommendations to be fulfilled in the coming period.
“This means that we have entered the second phase in the process of approving the export of red meat to the EU. This is encouraging news for our farmers because the opening of a potent European market means an exceptional opportunity and an additional incentive for the development of domestic agricultural capacities,” said Košarac.
Košarac called on the competent institutions at all levels of government in BiH to actively work on the implementation of additional recommendations. They relate to the fulfillment of conditions related to public animal health, farm registration, animal identification, and the program for the control of infectious diseases and the establishment of a laboratory network.
“These are the conditions that we must fulfill in the second phase, after which, depending on the epidemiological situation, the competent inspectors from the EU will come to BiH and perform the necessary controls,” said Košarac.
He supported the activity of institutions at all levels of government in BiH in this process, and said that the model of cooperation and coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH with the competent entity ministries, which he has advocated since the beginning of the mandate, had a positive outcome for domestic agricultural producers, announced the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
