SARAJEVO, February 8 (FENA) – The FBiH Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Edin Ramić signed agreements with mayors of 23 municipalities/cities in the Federation of BiH on cooperation in the implementation of the State Housing Project for Returnee Families.

The participants in this event were also addressed by the FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, emphasizing that this is the implementation of the State Housing Project within the Regional Housing Program, supported by the FBiH Government, which should ensure the construction of housing units for 81 returnee families.

Novalić said that the FBiH ministry as an implementer is doing an excellent job, emphasizing that the FBiH Government is helping lower levels of government during the corona crisis and has planned 30 million KM for the second year to support municipal budgets, as well as 200 million KM for cantons to support crafts and small businesses and micro enterprises.

At the press conference after the signing of the agreement, Minister Ramić explained that this is the implementation of the State Housing Project within the Regional Housing Program, i.e. the fifth subproject for the renovation of 81 individual housing facilities for displaced persons and returnees.

Based on today's agreements, housing units will be built for the needs of returnees from Serbia and Croatia, and a maximum of 16 housing units for returnees of Serbian nationality to Glamoč.

It is planned that by the end of the implementation of this regional program in June 2022, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, about 3,200 housing units will be provided for vulnerable refugees, displaced persons and returnees. So far, Ramić notes, about 1,800 housing units have been completed - 1,260 houses and 532 apartments.

Within the mentioned regional program, donors have so far allocated 570 million KM, of which about 130 million KM refers to projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The European Union is the largest donor with 460 million KM, followed by the United States with 47 million KM and Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey and several other countries.

Strong support for the regional program is also provided by the UNHCR, the OSCE and the Council of Europe Development Bank.
