Benifei: We do not want to comment on actions of Croatian police officers now

BIHAĆ, January 31 (FENA) - Italian MEPs and Italian Ambassador to BiH Nicola Minasi did not want to comment on the actions of Croatian police officers during today's visit to Bihać and the Una-Sana Canton (USC), who prevented them from seeing the situation on the border in the area of Velika Kladuša and Bojna, where migrants and refugees usually try to cross into the European Union illegally.

"We did not expect that and that is why I do not want to comment on anything at the moment when it comes to the event in Croatia. We will discuss this in the coming days," said MEP Brando Benifei.

Representatives of the Italian delegation emphasized the importance of seeing the situation on the ground, i.e. checking the living conditions and accommodation for migrants and refugees in Bihać, Velika Kladuša and Cazin, and jointly seeking solutions acceptable to all.

"We cannot be satisfied with what we have seen, the conditions especially at the Lipa site are unacceptable. We want to help all these people in need, as well as the local community. We must not forget that these are human lives. We will really try to act later and be supportive and insist on an equal distribution and acceptance of responsibility for these people. When I say that, I primarily mean all the countries of the European Union," Benifei added.
