Pendeš:It is unacceptable to build reception centers for migrants throughout BiH

SARAJEVO, January 26 (FENA) - Member of the Joint Committe for Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marina Pendeš (HDZ) objected today to the Information of the Ministry of Security of BiH on the situation in the field of migration in BiH for August 2020 stating that the biggest challenge is how to define illegal migration.

She added that it is unacceptable for her to build reception centers for migrants throughout BiH because she believes it is necessary to focus on preventing the entry of illegal migrants across the eastern border.

“The problem of migrants who are already in BiH should be tried to be solved with the representatives of the European Union who claim that they are ready to give certain financial means for that,” stated Pendeš.

She pointed out that cooperation with a certain number of countries from which illegal migrants come should be intensified in order for BiH to have readmission agreements.

BiH Minister of Security Selmo Cikotić said in his introductory address that 16,190 migrants were reported to the Service for Foreigners' Affairs last year, which is 45 percent less than in 2019.

He added that 15,170 of them had expressed an intention to apply for asylum, and only 244 of them had done so, none of whom had been granted.

The Joint Committee did not support Denis Bećirović's initiative by which the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly should instruct the BiH Council of Ministers to send the Analysis on the conduct of a hybrid warfare against the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the parliamentary procedure within three months with a proposal of measures for more efficient security operations and strengthening of state defense capacities.
