SARAJEVO, January 25 (FENA) – Failure to relocate the church from the yard of Fata Orlović's house in Konjević Polje is primarily the result of a lack of political will, i.e. the continuous obstruction of political representatives from Republika Srpska to stop this decades-long usurpation of this returnee's land and her basic human rights, said the Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dževad Mahmutović, on the show Human Rights on the Radio of the Federation of BiH.
“The deadline for execution of the Decision of the European Court of Human Rights was April 1, and before this verdict was reached, Fata Orlović received her rights from the CRPC, which led the process of repossession of property. After that, the RS Ministry of Refugees and Displaced Persons also made a decision to return the property to Fata Orlović,” said Mahmutović.
However, as he emphasized, nothing happened on the ground due to political obstructions.
“To state that the coronavirus is the reason for non-execution of the verdict is something that insults common sense, it is fooling the public to further prolong the execution of this primarily moral but also international obligation of BiH. The relocation of the church could certainly have been organized regardless of the pandemic conditions in which we live,” Mahmutović pointed out.
Speaking about the children from the elementary school "Petar Kočić" from Sjenina near Doboj whose grade for conduct has been lowered for not coming to school during the Statehood Day holiday, he said that it was "an inadmissible example of unfounded punishment of returnee children in RS".
He reminded that in this way all laws of BiH that are in force were ignored, primarily the Law on declaring November 25 the Statehood Day of BiH, and according to that Law it is determined that state bodies, companies and other legal entities do not work on public holidays.
