SARAJEVO, January 22 (FENA) - The Ministry of Health of the Federation of BiH reminds that at the 251st session of the FBiH Government, held on January 14, the Vaccination Plan against Covid-19 in the Federation of BiH was adopted, as well as Conclusions V No. 83/21.
“It is true that the Plan stipulates that the FBiH Government and the FBiH Ministry of Health are determined that the vaccine against Covid-19, which will be used in the Federation of BiH, must be registered by the European Agency (EMA),” the Ministry said.
The statement says that Conclusion V. No. 83/21 under item 5 obliges the FBiH Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health of the Federation of BiH, each within its competences, that in case of a changed epidemiological situation with Covid-19 in the FBiH, i.e. new scientific knowledge regarding the Covid-19 vaccine, as well as changes in other conditions on which the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination depends, revise the Vaccination Plan.
“The Federation of BiH has decided to procure vaccines through the COVAX mechanism and the EU mechanism, however, the fact is that through these two mechanisms the delivery of ordered vaccines has not yet begun,” it is said in the statement.
As it is further stated, for these reasons, a meeting was held on January 21 with the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija, which was attended by the Entity Prime Ministers, Entity Health Ministers, BiH Minister of Civil Affairs and the Director of the BiH Medicines Agency.
The main topic of the meeting was the procurement of vaccines against Covid-19.
Namely, due to the delay in the delivery of the first vaccines through the COVAX system, Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to launch a direct supply of vaccines from Pfizer, as well as vaccine manufacturers from Russia and the People's Republic of China.
In order for the Federation of BiH to receive the necessary vaccines as soon as possible, the FBiH Ministry of Health urgently addressed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH today, requesting that the Ministry, through the embassies of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, request a summary of the characteristics of these vaccines in the country of manufacture, as well as any other useful information.
Also, due to the changed circumstances, and in accordance with item 5 of the Conclusions V of the Government of FBiH No. 83/21, amendments to the Vaccination Plan against Covid-19 in the Federation of BiH were prepared, the FBiH Ministry of Health stated, the Press Service of the FBiH Government announced.
