SARAJEVO, January 20 (FENA) - Deputy Defense Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirko Okolić received the newly appointed EUFOR Commander in BiH, Major General Alexander Platzer, the BiH Ministry of Defense announced.
The Deputy Minister welcomed Major General Platzer to BiH and expressed the expectation that good cooperation between EUFOR and the BiH Armed Forces would continue.
Deputy Minister Okolić emphasized the exceptionally good cooperation with the previous commander, with the wish that the cooperation be further improved. The importance of the upcoming joint exercise of the Armed Forces of BiH and EUFOR was especially emphasized.
The new Commander is familiar with all the challenges that the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH are facing (pandemic COVID-19, migrant crisis).
Major General Platzer expressed interest in areas where the EUFOR Command can provide assistance to the BiH Armed Forces. He reminded that last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 80 percent of the planned exercises were done with the BiH Armed Forces.
He believes that future exercises will be a good opportunity to share experiences for both parties. In addition, the newly appointed EUFOR Commander praised the engagement of the BiH Armed Forces in this challenging time in which they have proven to be a factor that is always ready to assist the civilian structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
