HJPC continues to work on updating the War Crimes Map in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 14 (FENA) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) has officially continued its work on updating the War Crimes Map starting from January 1, 2020, through the Department for Judicial Documentation and Education of the HJPC BiH Secretariat.

On December 9, 2019, the HJPC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which marked the official handover of the War Crimes Map to the HJPC BiH and thus continued the long-standing cooperation between the HJPC BiH and the OSCE Mission to BiH.

The maturity of war crimes cases is regularly monitored, and summaries are prepared for inclusion in the Map. During the year, summaries were made for 53 war crimes cases, and the Map is fully up to date with all the cases that have been finalized to date.

In parallel with the preparation of summaries, the HJPC BiH seeks to enter appropriate final war crimes verdicts in the Judicial Database, so that all war crimes cases are available in one place.

The war crimes map is published on the website https://maparz.pravosudje.ba/ and aims to improve public perception of the work of the BiH judiciary in these cases.
