Zvizdić, Ramić, Hafizović and Špago visit the Mostar City Area - South

FENA Press release

MOSTAR, 12 January (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Denis Zvizdić, the FBiH Minister for Refugees and Displaced Persons Edin Ramić, Chief of Staff of the Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of the BiH Council of Ministers Šefket Hafizović and the  HNC Assembly Speaker Šerif Špago visited today the residents of the Mostar City Area - South.

The visit was organized "after disturbing information and messages sent by concerned residents of Buna, Hodbina, Gubavica, Pijesci and Jasenica, about harassment experienced by representatives of the Mostar Police Department, after the local elections in Mostar," the HNC Assembly said on Tuesday.

The statement said that the locals informed the representatives of higher levels of government that the war and post-war events in the area led to a violent change in the ethnic structure of this area.

The local elections held in Mostar after 12 years and the winning of one councilor mandate by the Coalition for Mostar's candidate led to unprincipled pressure and intimidation of the local population, which, according to them, is carried out by the Mostar Police Department on the orders of the HNC Prosecutor's Office.

Alija Đulić, a resident of Gubavica, said that such actions of the police have caused real drama in many families, where there are a large number of sick people, which further worsens their situation.

"Such actions of the police and the HNC Prosecutor's Office cannot be justified by anything. What was achieved by the electoral will of the citizens in the elections cannot be changed by pressure, repression and thus the will of the citizens cannot be annulled. All authorities in the country should be informed about the mobbing the Bosniaks in the south of Mostar are subjected to. I call on the people to be patient because none of us did anything wrong, "Đulić said.

"Contrary to all the principles that an individual elects and is elected and the mandatory protection of personal data, people are exposed to various types of pressure and interrogation for what each state should provide for its citizens, and that is to live freely where they want and to vote freely and democratically", Zvizdić emphasized.
