MOSTAR, January 8 (FENA) - Representatives of the Bosniak caucus in the Herzegovina-Neretva County Assembly (HNC) have expressed concern over the actions of the Mostar police, which has been conducting investigations against Bosniak citizens from the southern part of Mostar regarding alleged election irregularities.
"Representatives of the Bosniak caucus in the HNC Assembly have been approached in recent days by dozens of disturbed Bosniak citizens from the urban area Mostar-South, from the settlements of Buna, Hodbina, Gubavica, Pijesci and Jasenica, expressing fear and concern over what they said was harassment and pressure that they were exposed to by certain police officers, especially during the 'investigation' in the premises of the Mostar Police Department, where their health is also in question because the prescribed epidemiological measures are not respected,” representatives of Bosniak caucus in the HNC Assembly said in a press release.
The statement added that this was a "planned action of pressure carried out with the deliberate and obvious circumvention of non-Croatian executives in the Mostar Police Department and the HNC Ministry of the Interior".
“We believe that it is completely inadmissible, but also legally punishable, that in this way, under the auspices of alleged procedures, essentially create mono-ethnic parallel police structures under the patronage of politics, which put the HNC Police Administration under full political control through the line minister, not allowing the appointment of a police commissioner,” the statement said.
The Bosniak caucus has demanded urgent answers to the allegations and warns of "open denial of the election results", as well as "the announcement of a blockade on the formation of the Mostar City Council".
