BIHAĆ, January 2 (FENA) - President of the Una-Sana Canton (USK) Chamber of Commerce Enes Ružnić confirmed that the coronavirus pandemic in this canton has caused a significant decline in industrial production and exports of goods when it comes to 2020. All this, logically, caused a larger number of unemployed citizens.

“Industrial production compared to the previous period is lower by approximately eight percent and similar data and figures when it comes to exports of goods from the USC. We have to take into account that we have data for the first ten months of 2020, so unfortunately these figures could be a bit higher. It is quite logical then that unemployment is within those numbers,” said Ružnić.

Financial assistance and subsidies came from the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Cantonal Government, and the city and municipal authorities.

“Assistance from the federal level of government arrived on two occasions. The corona law provides funds for contributions to the minimum wage for a certain number of months, and another assistance at the federal level in the amount of 100 million KM is divided into different sectors, within which the work of businessmen from this part of the Federation of BiH was supported. Regarding the intervention of the Cantonal Government, we had one public call that covered the costs of minimum wages for one and a half months, and we hope for another public call soon,” said the President of the USC Chamber of Commerce.

These days, in the premises of the Cantonal Chamber of Commerce, agreements were signed on the allocation of financial assistance to export companies in the industrial sector in accordance with the Decree on intervention measures to support vulnerable sectors of the economy of the Federation of BiH.

“Here, 39 companies from the area of Una-Sana Canton received a subsidy, in a slightly higher total amount of 1,450,000 KM. Looking at the percentages, that is 4.84 percent of the total amount of the grant, which is 30 million marks,” Ružnić added.

It was emphasized that the second round of subsidies by the Government of the Federation of BiH significantly improved the overall situation, especially if we take into account that special grants are intended for tourism workers and caterers, as well as farmers and others.
