BiH CoM approves 2 million KM for the costs of countermeasures against Covid-19

SARAJEVO, December 29 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the Information on accepting UNICEF support in vaccine procurement procedures for Bosnia and Herzegovina within the mechanism "Commitment agreement - committed purchase arrangement - COVAX" and providing financial resources for fulfilling obligations from Vaccine procurement agreement with the Global Alliance for Vaccines (GAVI) against Covid-19 through theCOVAX mechanism and specific agreements within the Agreement on Joint Procurement of Health Countermeasures (JPA).

As it was announced, the Council of Ministers of BiH accepted the support of UNICEF in the procedures of procurement of vaccines for Bosnia and Herzegovina within the COVAX mechanism. 

The statement reads that the CoM adopted a decision on approving a multi-year project to finance costs from contractual arrangements for the procurement of health countermeasures against Covid-19 for the period 2020-2022, and the use of funds from the BiH Budget and international obligations for 2020 amounting to 2,000,000 KM.

The funds are intended to cover the costs incurred in the process of procurement of vaccines in BiH, including, inter alia, delivery, import and distribution of vaccines against Kovid-19, costs of transport, storage, and quality assurance.

The Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the Information on the need for urgent support of the European Commission to provide additional and strengthen the existing capacities of cold chains and vaccine material in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs will submit to the European Commission, through the Directorate for European Integration and the Office of the State IPA II Coordinator, a request for urgent support to provide additional and strengthen existing capacities of cold chains and vaccine material in BiH, with project proposals from the FBiHMinistry of Health, Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the RS and the Department of Health and Other Services of the Brčko District of BiH.

Also, the Ministry of Civil Affairs has been designated as the competent institution of BiH for signing direct agreements on grants for the procurement of vaccines, vaccine materials and equipment against Covid-19 within the "EU for Health" mechanism.

The Minister of Civil Affairs has been authorized to sign direct grant agreements on behalf of BiH.
