BIHAĆ, December 29 (FENA) - More than 650 migrants and refugees who stayed in the camp at the "Lipa" site near Bihać are currently being accommodated in buses and will be transported to another location outside the Una-Sana Canton (USK). There is still no official confirmation of the location to which these people will be relocated.
The entire relocation process is managed by the BiH Foreigners’ Affairs Service, the staff of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), while the security situation is controlled by a large number of police officers from the USC Ministry of Interior.
“The migration process in our country should be managed by the Council of Ministers of BiH, i.e. the Ministry of Security, and we are glad that they have finally taken responsibility for the crisis in our canton. More than ten buses have arrived at the location and people will finally be housed in more humane conditions. We have no information on what that location will be. We are also glad that they finally respected and understood us, and that they gave up the Migration Center, or better to say the industrial zone 'Bira' in the center of Bihać,” said the Minister of the Interior of the USC Nermin Kljajić.
“Since IOM left us, we have only survived on Lipa. We had one meal a day and the biggest problem was the cold. We don't know where we are going now, but it doesn't matter if we have at least a little better living conditions,” said 21-year-old Ali from Pakistan.
A convoy of more than ten buses should soon, under strong police presence, move towards the next temporary destination for the hundreds of former users of the camp's services at the Lipa site near Bihać.
