Bijeljina Mayor Mićo Mićić dies of coronavirus infection

BANJA LUKA, December 23 (FENA) - The mayor of Bijeljina, Mićo Mićić, passed away as a result of the corona virus, it was confirmed to "Nezavisne novine".

Mićić passed away at the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska on May 12.

He was confirmed for coronavirus on November 26, and due to the more severe clinical picture, he was transferred to the UCC RS and put on a ventilator on December 2.

Mićo Mićić was born on September 6, 1956, in Bijeljina. In the local elections in 2005, he was elected mayor of Bijeljina, and he was re-elected to this position in 2008. Four years later, he was elected the first mayor in the history of Bijeljina. In 2016, he was elected for the second mayoral term, i.e. the fourth term of the first man of local self-government.

From mid-2017 to mid-2018, he headed the Network of Associations of Local Governments of Southeast Europe (NALAS).
