SARAJEVO, December 23 (FENA) - Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Miloš Lučić signed cooperation agreements today with representatives of eight non-governmental organizations that run safe houses in BiH.

As Minister Lučić stated before the signing of the mentioned agreements, these are grant funds in the total amount of 100,000 KM, which are provided from the Budget of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees for 2020.

He added that the funds, which are allocated by the relevant ministry, will be evenly distributed to eight safe houses.

He reminded, at the same time, that the Ministry in the middle of the year allocated 160,000 KM, which was provided for the same purpose by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in order to overcome the problems caused by the Covid19 pandemic.

Jasna Zečević from the Center for Therapy and Rehabilitation "Vive žene" from Tuzla also welcomed the allocation of funds intended for safe houses, emphasizing that this year the competent institutions paid more attention to safe houses, their capacities and financing.

She warned, however, that the FBiH Law on Protection from Violence is still not being implemented to the extent that would provide 100% of funding, and that it is, therefore, necessary to lobby for funding from other sources, including international donors.
