Covid ward opens at General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš"

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 23 (FENA) - A new Covid ward was opened today at the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš" in Sarajevo. It has 44 hospital beds and four donated ventilators, and spreads on the ground floor of the building on an area of 961 square meters.

The reconstruction of the facility was financed by the Government of the Sarajevo Canton with donations from the Kingdom of Norway and the UNDP.

“Today we are donating this to our city of Sarajevo. I want to tell the citizens of Sarajevo that we have gained a lot with this facility and we will all remember this day. The new department will have 44 beds with all the accompanying facilities,” said at a press conference the acting Director of the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš" prof. dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović.

The current Prime Minister of the SC Government, Mario Nenadić, believes that the importance of this department is all the greater because it was formed during the pandemic, and its value is around 1.8 million KM.

“We have to look at the environment, the neighboring countries that opened tents and other capacities in this time, took care of patients in other ways. Thanks to the UNDP and the Norwegian Government, we managed to enable a modern European treatment facility in such a difficult period,” Nenadić added.
