SARAJEVO, December 17 (FENA) - Inspectors for foreigners in cooperation with police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior, exercising increased control over the movement and stay of foreigners in the Sarajevo Canton, on December 16 inspected 12 facilities providing accommodation services to foreign citizens and on that occasion controlled 64 migrants.
At the time of the inspection, the status of residence could not be determined for 24 migrants, so they were placed at the Temporary Reception Facility Blažuj where further measures and actions will be taken within the competence of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs.
Also, during the control, the Service determined that five migrants were staying illegally on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and they were expelled with a ban on entry and residence for a period of one to five years. These persons have been placed under surveillance in the Immigration Center or their movement to a certain place is restricted until they leave the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the control and inspection, inspectors for foreigners found certain irregularities in five facilities, which were reflected in non-reporting of foreign nationals and improper record keeping, which is why five misdemeanor orders were issued to the owners of facilities that provided accommodation services to foreign nationals.
Due to non-compliance with legal provisions regarding the registration of aliens' residence, the Aliens Act prescribes a fine of 200 to 800 KM for a natural person providing accommodation services, while a fine of 500 to 2,500 KM is prescribed for a legal entity providing accommodation services to foreigners and a fine in the amount of 200 to 800 KM is prescribed for the responsible person in the legal entity, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs announced.
