SARAJEVO, December 15 (FENA) - The session of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPCBiH) was adjourned after several hours of discussion, and its continuation is scheduled for tomorrow.
The decision to adjourn the session was announced by the Vice President of the HJPC BiH Sanela Gorušanović-Butigan, after a break to harmonize positions on the actions of the HJPC BiH after the president of this regulatory body Milan Tegeltija announced his irrevocable decision to resign.
Gorušanović-Butigan said that one participant in the session fell ill and that the session was postponed as a result.
Given that Tegeltija's resignation has raised a number of technical and formal issues, members of the HJPC have previously expressed their views on the procedures to follow regarding the election of new members and the management of this regulatory body, in accordance with the Law on the HJPC BiH and the Rules of Procedure.
Among other things, the session focused on the manner of scheduling sessions, after the resignation of the President, and on who could be a signatory on behalf of the HJPC in addressing other institutions/third parties.
The opinions of the members of the HJPC were divided, and the options that have been put forth are for the president of the HJPC to be appointed at the session or to authorize a person to be a signatory on behalf of the Council.
In this regard, in order to define the course of action in the new circumstances, the opinion of the Legal Department of the HJPC has been requested, after which it was announced that the session was postponed, i.e., that it would continue on Wednesday, December 16.
