IGK calls on High Representative to promulgate law on genocide denial

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 10 (FENA) - On Human Rights Day, the Institute for Genocide Research Canada (IGK) considers it important for Bosnia and Herzegovina to receive a law banning genocide denial, which has been rejected many times in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

They emphasize that this is the minimum that should be done towards the victims, and they once again called on the High Representative to promulgate the law.

The Institute also addressed the United Nations Security Council with a request that such a law be passed in BiH as a matter of urgency.

“We invite the High Representative to join the voice of the civilized world and proclaim that law because the negation of genocide is the negation of the state of BiH, the negation of international justice and law, international courts and the United Nations. The impossibility of adopting that law in the Parliamentary Assembly and the passivity of the High Representative on this issue is a documented testimony to the dishonesty, moral and intellectual collapse of the Dayton state of BiH, as well as the international community. Passivity dehumanizes genocide victims,” the Genocide Research Institute of Canada said.

The IGK also supports the Bill in the Parliament of Montenegro on the Prohibition of Denial, Minimization, Justification or Approval of the Holocaust, Crimes of Genocide and Crimes against Humanity.
