ISTANBUL, December 4 (FENA) - The global economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic has also hit Turkey, especially the tourism sector. However, tourism has not stopped, which is confirmed by the situation in Istanbul, one of the most populous cities in the world.

Hundreds of planes land daily at all three Istanbul airports from many cities around the world, groups of tourists from many countries patiently in lines, adhering to the epidemiological situation, are waiting in front of one of the imposing cultural and historical buildings, which testify to the turbulent past of this country. Groups of tourists circle the Bosphorus all day on cruisers. Of course, much less frequently than before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A group of media representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are staying in Istanbul at the invitation and organized by the Turkish Agency for the Promotion and Development of Tourism, was convinced of that.

The epidemiological situation in Turkey is as complex as in countries around the world. According to the latest official data, transmitted by the Turkish media, 187,518 samples were tested in 24 hours on Thursday, and the infection was confirmed in 32,381 people.

Another 187 people died from the effects of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, and a total of 14,316 people have died from the effects of coronavirus in this country so far. At the same time, 4,190 people recovered from the disease, which increased the total number of recovered to 418,331.

Earlier this week, due to the worsening situation, to step up measures against the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, authorities imposed new restrictions, including curfew for weekdays and weekends. Also, all under the age of 20, as well as those over the age of 65, are prohibited from using public transportation.

It should be noted that these measures apply only to the local population, i.e. foreigners and tourists are not restricted in their movement during 24 hours. All catering facilities are closed, restaurants are open with limited delivery, shops and other shops are also open. Most hotels are open and provide services to a limited number of guests, with strict adherence to all epidemiological measures.

During the day, a large number of people, especially young people, are noticeable on the streets. Turks are traditionally hospitable and very friendly, open to dialogue in order to provide foreigners with possible help and information. Despite the crisis, optimism is noticeable among the residents.

In the middle of the year, the Turkish authorities held consultations with representatives of the countries from which most tourists come to Turkey in order to help tourists and the tourism sector as part of the practice of maintaining "safe tourism" and introducing measures for tourists from planes to airports and passenger transfer vehicles. to the hotel to ensure their protection.

During the pandemic from July 1, a special insurance package was prepared, which also includes COVID-19, for all foreign citizens, in order to eventually cover the costs of their stay, i.e. treatment in case of infection.

Turkey is the first country in Europe to create a safe tourism certification system. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, and in coordination with the real sector, the "certification of safe tourism" aims to include security measures from transport to residence, from workers to guests.

All additional information on this certification can be found on the web address of the Agency for the Promotion and Development of Turkish Tourism: www.tga.gov.tr

The Agency aims to promote, develop, discover tangible and intangible natural, cultural and historical resources, as well as improve quality in the service sector. Within the strategy and policy, determined by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the agency performs activities of promotion, development and discovery of new tourist attractions.
