SARAJEVO, December 1 (FENA) - The presidency of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided in an emergency telephone session to dissolve the SDP Srebrenica municipal organization, as well as to expel Bego Bektić from the party.
The decision was made on the basis of information that Bektić participated in fraud in the election process in Srebrenica, which irreversibly damaged the reputation of the SDP in Srebrenica.
“Having in mind the fact that SDP BiH is one of the bearers of activities to protect the integrity of the election process, that the President of the Municipal Board of SDP Srebrenica Bego Bektić grossly violated the Statute of SDP BiH, violated decisions of SDP BiH bodies, that he is suspected of violating and abuses in the election process, which by its very indications caused incalculable political damage to the SDP BiH, so that the implementation of a special procedure would only further inflict political damage on the SDP BiH and what we advocate and fight for, the SDP BiH Presidency passed a decision to dissolve the SDP BiH in Srebrenica and all its organs, and the exclusion of Bego Bektić from the membership of the SDP BiH,” it is stated in the explanation.
The statement says that they are aware that this decision will be difficult to wash away the stain from the SDP and its honorary members and sympathizers in this city, and state that this is only the first step in creating a better SDP organization, which will continue to work in the interest of all the citizens of Srebrenica.
They called on the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to annul and hold the elections for the mayor of Srebrenica again if it is determined that Mladen Grujičić secured the votes and a possible election victory by election manipulations.
They emphasized the absolute support of the competent authorities in conducting the investigation and punishing all those who in any way influenced the integrity of the election process with malversations, abuses and frauds, regardless of who it does, the SDP said.
