Salkić: Something needs and must change in the RS entity twenty-five years after

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, November 29 (FENA) - RS Vice President Ramiz Salkić said today that Draško Stanivuković's statements and behavior are the result of a misconceived education system, as well as the influence of media and authorities in the entity glorifying convicted war criminals and denying genocide.

Reacting to the statements of the newly elected mayor of Banja Luka in which he openly denies the convicted genocide in Srebrenica, Salkić pointed out that "after twenty-five years, something should and must change in the BiH entity of RS, otherwise with such an education system, media and government support, the society will radicalize further with unforeseeable consequences for the future peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

“Such people as Stanivuković are brought up by the educational system, media and government in this entity. The textbooks used in the educational process of this entity teach that Ratko Mladić is the commander of the army, which created RS. It would be correct to learn that Ratko Mladić and other convicts are war criminals, who have committed grave crimes, including the genocide of Bosnian Muslims in the UN safe zone of Srebrenica, and have thus placed a heavy burden on their people to bear through their future. Representatives of Bosnian Serbs, and of Serbia, must remove this heavy burden from their own backs, no one can do that on their behalf,” said Salkić.

As he points out, "most media in the RS entity do not recognize the verdicts of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the International Court of Justice, the courts of democracies, domestic courts and convicted genocide. Shaping public opinion in the way that there was no genocide Srebrenica and other grave crimes by Serbian heroes".

The key problem is that many believe the crime pays off and that their compatriots have done good things in the past. They believe the crime pays off because many criminals are at large today, they are respectable citizens in this entity. Today's territorial organization of Bosnia and Herzegovina is proof that the crime pays off, it was announced from the Office of the Vice President of the BiH Entity of RS.
