Switzerland donates valuable document verification equipment to BiH BP

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 27 (FENA) - The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) received specialist equipment for documents checking worth 220,000 KM, donated by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).

The equipment was procured with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

An increasing challenge for the BiH Border Police is the detection of forged personal documents and false identities. The donated specialist equipment will contribute to the fight against various forms of forgery and misuse of documents, more effective protection of the state border and increase of general security, the Border Police announced.

Chantal Felder, Deputy Director of Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in BiH handed over the donation to Dragan Kulić, Assistant Director for Organization and Operations at the BiH BP. The handover was also attended by Peter Van der Auweraert, Head of the IOM Mission in BiH, as well as the Head of the Office of the Director of the BiH Border Police, Radiša Samardžija.

"Document verification equipment will help the Border Police to raise the level of security in the country. This donation was provided as part of the migration partnership between BiH and Switzerland, which our two countries have been successfully maintaining since 2009. Switzerland will continue to support BiH in these challenging times,” said Felder.
