Cikotić speaks with UNHCR and UNICEF representatives on the migrant crisis

SARAJEVO, November 19 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić met today in Sarajevo with UNHCR and UNICEF representatives in BiH, Lucie Gagne and Rownak Khan, and discussed the migrant crisis and resolving joint challenges in this area.

Minister Cikotić emphasized the successful cooperation of the Ministry of Security with these two UN organizations, emphasizing the importance of working together and continuing partnerships in the future in order to better respond to all challenges of the migrant crisis.

They also discussed the protection and accommodation of families with children and unaccompanied minors.

Minister Cikotić confirmed that BiH has so far had a special sensitivity towards these most endangered categories of migrants and that BiH will continue to provide them with adequate protection in the future, especially during winter and colder weather.

At the same time, he pointed to the plan of security measures taken by BiH in order to reduce the influx of illegal migrants, combat human trafficking and cut human trafficking chains, as well as increase security in BiH, especially in local communities where there are reception centers for migrants, announced the Ministry of Security of BiH.
