SARAJEVO, November 18 (FENA) - A joint military exercise of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Armed Forces of the United States of America called "Bilateral Exercise" began today at the training grounds of the Armed Forces of BiH - Glamoč and Manjača.
The goal of the exercise is to improve partnership cooperation with the United States and NATO partners, and to develop the interoperability and capabilities of the AFBiH, the Ministry of Defense of BiH announced.
The field exercise is being carried out at the Glamoč training ground, with computer coordination with the Center for Combat Simulations of the Manjača ground and the use of specialists for guidance and control of air support (Joint Terminal Attack Controllers - JTAC).
Close air support to ground forces is provided by two F-16 aircrafts from Aviano Air Force Base, Italy, which, instead of live ammunition, use laser target locking and simulated destruction, while the UH-1H helicopter is engaged for medical evacuation by air.
This will fully simulate the integration of ground and air forces.
For the purposes of the exercise, a temporary Media Information Center (MIC) was established with 13 members of the AFBiH, two members of the US Army from the Regional Information Support Team, three members of the US Air Force Advisory Team and one public relations representative from the Special Operations Command for Europe, in cooperation with the Office for Defense Cooperation (ODC) at the US Embassy in BiH.
