ŠIROKI BRIJEG, November 16 (FENA) - The Croat Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) will have mayors in all municipalities and cities in the West Herzegovina Canton.
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, 52 percent of polling stations in Široki Brijeg were processed by 1:56 a.m. on Monday. HDZ BiH candidate and former mayor Miro Kraljević received the support of 79 percent of voters, and his opponent Vlado Marušić from the Croatian Alliance HKDU-Hrast won 21 percent of the vote.
In Ljubuški, 71 percent of polling stations were processed, and the HDZ BiH candidate and the current acting mayor competed for the position of mayor. Mayor of Ljubuški Vedran Markotić, who won 74 percent of the vote and is likely to become the new mayor, then the candidate of the Croatian Alliance HKDU-Hrast Ante Paponja with 17 percent of votes and HDZ 1990 candidate Radoslav Radišić, who received the support of 9 percent of voters.
In Posušje, 66 percent of polling stations were processed, and with 61 percent of the votes the new mayor of Posušje, instead of the current Branko Bago, should be the candidate of HDZ BiH Ante Begić. His opponent, Blago Petrić of the Croat Independent List, won 39 percent of the vote.
The municipality of Grude had only one candidate, and that is the current mayor Ljubo Grizelj, the candidate of HDZ BiH, for whom 2,158 voters voted. In Grude, 68 percent of polling stations were processed.
