Magazinović stresses Trgovska gora issue at Western Balkans Forum on Environment

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 10 (FENA) – Head of SDP caucus in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Saša Magazinović, is participating in the Western Balkans Forum on the Environment in Podgorica, organized by the World Forum for Democracy and the Council of Europe.

This year's Forum is based on and wants to offer ideas and answers on two key topics "Sustainable Energy Use and Climate Protection" and "Governments, International Organizations and Citizens: Who Dictates the Pace?".

Magazinović spoke at the panel "Public, private, non-governmental sector: Which role belongs to whom?".

He used the opportunity to be one of the speakers at this international forum to emphasize once again the problem manifested in the intention of the Republic of Croatia to build a nuclear and radioactive waste disposal at the site of Trgovska Gora, on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In that context, he pointed out the very positive and visible cooperation between institutions and the non-governmental sector in BiH in order to prevent that, which could be a model for cooperation in other areas as well.

Magazinović is of the opinion that regional cooperation in the field of green policies and ecology, as its precondition, must have mutual respect and esteem of states, which is obviously not the case at this time.

“I think that even if numerous attempts to interfere in internal affairs are ignored, the fact that someone wants to dispose of nuclear waste in your yard is a big enough reason for cooperation in other areas to be stopped until this problem is solved,” said Magazinović, SDP announced.
