Improve economic cooperation between BiH and Pakistan

FENA Hana Imamović

ISLAMABAD, November 4 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Kahn met today in Islamabad, where Džaferović is on a two-day official visit.

As they stated at the press conference after the meeting, they agree that it is of great importance to improve friendly relations between the two countries, especially in the field of economy, bearing in mind that annual trade amounts to only 4.5 million euros, FENA's journalist reports from Islamabad.

They pointed out that the opportunities for progress in that area are much greater, especially in the military industry, the electricity sector, agriculture, and there is also the idea of attending the diplomatic academy of people from BiH in Pakistan.

Kahn thanked Džaferović because BiH has taken a united stand on the Kashmir issue, which has been the subject of a dispute between Pakistan and India for many years and Džaferović reminded that this issue must be resolved peacefully with respect for human rights and in accordance with the adopted resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

The interlocutors condemned the terrorist attacks in Paris and Vienna, but Kahn stressed that in addition to the obligation to respect freedom of speech, it is also necessary to take care that it is not abused so as not to hurt the feelings of other peoples.

“The mockery of the Prophet Muhammad causes great pain to Muslims around the world. Such a thing is not acceptable and it is necessary to have an understanding of that as well, because when that happens then there will be no such problems. It is important to break the cycle of violence. As long as there is no respect and as long as there are cases of mockery and insult of any group, reactions will follow, and they will provoke new reactions,” Kahn explained.

Chairman Džaferović underlined that terrorism is a world evil that has not solved any problem, but only new ones have emerged. But he also said that the interlocutors at today's meeting condemned the growing Islamophobia, which is as unacceptable as it is to insult the religious feelings of Muslims.

“Although human freedom is unlimited or should be unlimited, it has one limitation, and that is the freedom of another human being. That should be taken into account. We should all take into account the feelings of others and build unity in diversity,” underlined Džaferović.

He reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a multiethnic country that builds unity of society in its diversity, because differences are wealth and should not be a reason for conflicts, and in all this, it is necessary to take care that others are not hurt.

The officials also exchanged opinions on the coronavirus pandemic at the meeting, and Džaferović invited Prime Minister Kahn to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina.
