SARAJEVO, October 26 (FENA) - Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milan Dunović, representatives of the city institutions, political parties and the Serb Civic Council laid flowers today and paid tribute to the victims of war crime at Kazani, on the slopes of Mt Trebević.

The remains of 23 people have been exhumed at the site so far, 15 of whom have been identified. These are five female victims and ten male victims, aged 27 to 66. Of the identified victims, two were victims of Ukrainian ethnicity, two victims of Croat ethnicity, one victim of Bosniak ethnicity and ten victims of Serb ethnicity.

Emphasizing that 27 years have passed since the crime, Dunović once again appealed to the City of Sarajevo to build a memorial, for which funds were allocated from the Cabinet of the Vice President of the FBiH in the previous convocation of 2011.

Dunović believes that it is very important for the citizens of Sarajevo to build a memorial at Kazani, because a war crime took place at that location, noting that it was by no means the policy of either Sarajevo or the Army of the Republic of BiH.

"Every year we expect the City Administration to finalize this job, but so far nothing has happened. It is extremely important for the City of Sarajevo to make a monument at Kazani, to remove the burden of responsibility from the citizens of Sarajevo because a war crime was committed at Kazani. However, the war crime was committed by specific people who have names. The Army of BiH led an honorable defense of the city from the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Dunović.

During the siege of the city in 1992 and 1993, at the site of Kazani, members of the Army of RBiH under the leadership of Mušan Topalović Caco brutally killed citizens of the capital of BiH. For this crime, 14 former soldiers of the Army of RBiH were sentenced to ten months to six years in prison. Topalović was killed while trying to escape in 1993, after being arrested in an operation by police and military forces organized by the then RBiH Presidency, the RBiH MoI and the RBiH Army.
