SARAJEVO, October 21 (FENA) - US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Eric Nelson presented a 150-meter-long mural in Želimira Vidovića Kelija street in Sarajevo tonight, created by elementary and high school students from Sarajevo and East Sarajevo.
Muralists, graffiti artists, academic and street artists have painted it as part of the "Our Future" project since October 13.
US Ambassador Nelson said he is pleased to see this artwork created by students from two neighboring cities and expressed his hope that everyone will have a chance to see it.
“It is a wonderful expression of our young people about friendship, hope, future and community, and I hope that it will be an inspiration for many of us,” said Nelson.
The Association of Citizens for Culture and Education "Pogon" implements "Our Future Community Project" in cooperation with the US Embassy in BiH.
Producer of the Association "Pogon", Zlatko Novaković, said that the mural would become the face of the city of Sarajevo.
“The mural contains drawings of students from Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, which we framed in the form of a large tram and I believe that their messages will make the everyday life of our fellow citizens more beautiful,” Novaković explained.
The painting of the mural "Our Future" was inspired by the ArtsConnect project, in which 13 murals were painted in 14 local communities across the United States, of which the most significant is located in a historic location in Kansas and was created in memory of a court ruling that abolished racial segregation in public schools.
