MOSTAR, October 21 (FENA) - Excavation works along the right pipe of the Počitelj Tunnel ended today with drilling the 1,163-meter-long tunnel, which was attended by FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić, FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications Denis Lasić, Director the FBiH Motorways Adnan Terzić and project manager on behalf of the contractor Cai Lei.
Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, pointed out that this is a very important event.
“We are talking about Corridor Vc, which is the only one that is not sensitive to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. It is not sensitive because we want that, because it gives us a great chance to maintain some investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it significantly affects the fact that our economy is not deteriorating, as has happened in most countries in the world in much higher percentages than the one we have,” said Prime Minister Novalić.
FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications Denis Lasić said infrastructure development is crucial for any country.
“Development in the construction of Corridor Vc is certainly the biggest catalyst of the economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so the FBiH Ministry of Transport and Communications is determined to provide continuous support to the FBiH Motorways in the process of construction, management and maintenance of highways. The project for the construction of the Počitelj-Zvirovići motorway section, where the Počitelj Tunnel is located, is of exceptional importance for Herzegovina, but also for the whole of BiH,” said Minister Lasić.
The Počitelj-Zvirovići subsection is part of the Počitelj-Bijača section and is 11.07 kilometers long and divided into two LOTs. LOT 1 includes the route of the motorway from the initial station to the Počitelj Bridge and from the Počitelj Bridge to the Zvirovići loop.
The construction contract was signed on June 20, 2019, with the Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited, the works on drilling the Počitelj Tunnel are being performed by the BiH company Euro-Asfalt as a subcontractor, and the value of the contract for the works of LOT 1 is 56,522,840.50 euros without VAT.
According to the contract, the deadline for the completion of works on the subsection Počitelj-Zvirovići LOT 1 is planned for September 2021.
