SARAJEVO, October 19 (FENA) - The Austrian Embassy in Sarajevo has announced a webinar on "Security and Independence of Journalists", organized by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria together with the embassies of the United Kingdom and Canada in Vienna.
This virtual event is being implemented within the Coalition for Freedom of the Media, which was founded by the United Kingdom and Canada in 2019, and to which Austria also belongs.
It is a regional "pre-conference" for the second International Conference on Media Freedom, which will be organized by Canada on November 16 this year in Botswana, and the results of tomorrow's Webinar will be included.
The first panel of the Webinar will be thematically dedicated to the deteriorating security situation of journalists, and the second to the increased number of attacks on their independence, as well as the possibilities of facing these challenges.
Both panels will shed light on the perspective and special position of journalists, as well as the consequences of COVID-19 on their work. The regional focus is on current events in the Western Balkans, and Central and Eastern Europe.
