SARAJEVO, October 9 (FENA) - The FBiH Ministry of Environment and Tourism issued its opinion on the Draft Law on Prohibition of Planning, Construction and Commissioning of Small and Medium Hydro Power Plants on the Territory of the Federation of BiH, drafted by environmental NGOs.
"Since the original competence of this ministry is environmental protection and we have excellent cooperation with the non-governmental sector, we believe that the draft law is extremely good and that everyone in the chain of competent institutions should support it in order to be put in parliamentary procedure as soon as possible.
It is important to adopt the draft law proposed by non-governmental organizations, because in that way the conclusion of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH would be respected, which has ordered a ban on the construction of mini and medium hydropower plants on the territory of the Federation of BiH," the Ministry announced.
The Ministry stated that the preservation of our rivers is extremely important for the protection of the environment as a whole, but also for the development of tourism, given that rivers are our natural treasures.
