SARAJEVO, October 7 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović and member of the Presidency of BiH Milorad Dodik received the Head of the European Union Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative Ambassador Johann Sattler.
The officials discussed the criteria in the Report for BiH and noted that limited progress was made in some areas. The interlocutors agreed that increased dynamics is needed in the process of reforming the judiciary and public administration, as well as strengthening the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
Sattler presented the Report of the European Commission on BiH for 2020 to the members of the Presidency of BiH.
The Report on BiH is part of the Enlargement Package presented to the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee by Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Olivér Várhelyi with the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans. There has been visible progress in meeting the 14 key priorities of the European Commission Opinion.
In this context, the continued leadership role of the BiH Presidency in the reform process was welcomed.
Members of the Presidency of BiH assessed the meetings with European officials in Brussels as successful and expressed confidence that talks with representatives of the largest institutions of the European Union will give additional impetus to the country's European path.
Also, members of the Presidency of BiH expressed satisfaction with the adoption of the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans worth nine billion euros. The funds that the EU will invest in the long-term recovery of the region from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in infrastructure projects, are of great importance for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This aid package and infrastructure investment will accelerate the process of European integration of the Western Balkan countries.
The members of the Presidency of BiH thanked Ambassador Sattler for his support and continuous engagement on the European path of BiH, the Presidency of BiH announced.
