MOSTAR, October 5 (FENA) - Representatives of the citizens' initiative "Because It Concerns Us" pointed out today that local authorities, together with FBiH institutions, worked behind the backs of citizens, "making false promises and buying time" to quell the civil revolt while the current location of the Uborak landfill has expanded so they have announced new legal activities and the continuation of the fight against, as they say, a dysfunctional and corrupt system.
In addition, as the representatives of the citizens' initiative said at the press conference, without any shame or scruples, they organized a public discussion at which the Environmental Impact Study was presented, which envisages that additional material from the construction site of the Mostar-South - Kvanj Tunnel subsection will be deposited at the Uborak landfill, which proves that closure of the Mostar landfill has not being taken seriously.
“The study states that the generated non-hazardous and hazardous municipal waste from work and storage facilities will be managed in cooperation with the local utility company and will be disposed of at the regional landfill Uborak,” said the President of the citizens’ initiative "Because it concerns us" Omer Hujdur.
“Our fight continues through legal channels, lawsuits, criminal charges, requests for dismissal. For us, there are no untouchables and there will be none, and there will be concrete activities in the field. It will be a fair fight that it cannot be fairer without politics and falling under the influence of various parties. Those who brag about our story, thinking that they will win us over, will soon have the opportunity to say publicly what they will do about solving our problem if they sit in comfortable council seats,” said Hujdur.
