SARAJEVO, September 28 (FENA) - Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ji Ping expressed content today because of an oprtunity to celebrate October 1, the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with friends from BiH and the diplomatic corps, as well as Chinese citizens residing in BiH.
He emphasized that 2020 has been unusual, but that a lot of effort have been made in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, joint development and preservation of international order.
Speaking about the coronavirus pandemic, he reminded that China, as the first country affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, "took the most adequate measures for prevention and control and stopped the local spread of the pandemic, thus making a significant contribution to preventing the spread of the virus worldwide."
"China cooperated with other countries and informed the world on the epidemiological situation as soon as possible, unreservedly shared experiences in the fight against the pandemic, provided assistance to more than 150 countries and international organizations, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, and solemnly promised to make the Chinese vaccine a global product," said the ambassador.
He pointed out that the pandemic cuased an unprecedented blow to the world economy, but the cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative was not stagnant because of that.
China held the Global Summit of Trade in Services within the Chinese International Services Trade, and according to the plan, it will hold an international imports fair and will enable a free of charge booths for BiH and other countries.
He reminded of the words of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who said at the Summit dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the United Nations that in the time after the pandemic, the organization should be even more committed to justice, support the rule of law, promote cooperation and focus on real action.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even though the pandemic, as Ji Ping points out, disrupted the work plan, relations between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina have become even stronger.
In the midst of the pandemic, the leaders of the two countries sent several letters to each other, and the foreign ministers held a friendly telephone conversation, and repeatedly expressed common wishes for solidarity and cooperation in the fight against the pandemic.
The authorities of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of health and medical science, establishing a platform for cooperation mechanisms in combating the pandemic.
"China was among the first countries to provide BiH with equipment and means to fight the pandemic, distributed solutions for diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control, and organized three video conferences of medical experts," the ambassador underlined.
Also, economic and trade cooperation between China and BiH has not been put on hold due to the pandemic, and cooperation projects in areas such as energy, transport and hydropower are progressing well.
He added that after the pandemic broke out in BiH, the Government of the People's Republic of China, several Chinese NGOs, Chinese companies operating in BiH, Chinese citizens and traders living and working in BiH, provided assistance to BiH, donating medical and preventive equipment worth of 550,000 KM including ventilators, test kits and masks.
Ambassador Ji Ping thanked his partners in BiH and Chinese compatriots for their efforts to promote bilateral relations, and his colleagues from the diplomatic corps for their support.
On October 1, the Chinese traditional Mid-Autumn Festival will be marked, which symbolizes happiness, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Ji Ping wished prosperity to China and BiH, as well as long-term friendship between the two countries.
