SARAJEVO, September 25 (FENA) - The inflow of foreign direct investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2019 amounted to KM 699 million, according to the data of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), which published the foreign direct investment statistics for 2019.
In terms of geographical distribution, the largest inflow of investments during 2019 was from Russia (KM 211 million), and then from Croatia (KM 117 million).
Observed by activities, most investments were made in the field of the production of coke and refined petroleum products (KM 202 million), financial services (banking sector, KM 154 million), and in the field of wholesale trade (KM 92 million).
Lower inflows of investments compared to 2018, which, according to the revised data, amounted to KM 952 million, were caused, among other things, by increased dividend payments in the last quarter of 2019, as well as the acquisitions of foreign-owned companies by local companies.
At the end of 2019, the balance of foreign direct investment amounted to KM 15.02 billion. This amount is the result of investments in previous years, as well as the operations of foreign-owned companies. The largest amount of direct investments still refers to Austria (KM 2.7 billion), Croatia (KM 2.4 billion) and Serbia (close to KM 2.0 billion). Observed by activities, the highest amount of foreign direct investment was recorded in the area of financial services (KM 3.7 billion), followed by telecommunications (KM 1.7 billion) and wholesale trade (KM 1.2 billion KM).
In accordance with the revision policy and on the basis of additional data, the publication of 2019 data includes the revisions for the previous two years as well, stated the CBBH.
