SARAJEVO, September 23 (FENA) - The session of the Presidency of the Association of Municipalities and Cities of the Federation of BiH, which, among other things, summarized the work in the past period, was held today.

The director of the Association, Vesna Travljanin, told FENA that this is probably the last session in this convocation, the elections are in November and after that, the Association will have new bodies.

She added that at the session they summarized the work of the Association in the past period, and especially discussed the finances of municipalities and cities, which is often the topic of their meetings.

"First of all, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on local self-government units has been summarized. Then, aid, transfers, which went from higher levels of government from the IMF loan to the municipalities," said Travljanin.

She added that they demanded that 30 million KM be divided into equal parts to all municipalities and cities, according to the principle of reciprocity or solidarity, 385,000 KM each.

"However, the Government, ie the Ministry of Finance, partially complied with our request, because they divided 10 million into equal parts, 125 thousand each, and 20 million went to projects according to certain criteria in the field of infrastructure, roads, cultural facilities, etc. We think that's okay. When it comes to the local level, we represent the interests of that level of government and the Government should consult us, that is, to be harmonized in that part," said Travljanin.
