SARAJEVO, September 15 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković received today Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec.
On that occasion, Minister Turković pointed out the important role that the OSCE has in BiH and expressed gratitude for contribution and assistance to our country, especially in the reform processes.
Kavalec pointed out that the OSCE Mission will remain an important partner in BiH and continue to provide constructive support to BiH institutions in strengthening the rule of law, implementing the electoral process and developing education in BiH.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the areas of education and the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Turković pointed out the long-standing issue of discrimination in the education of returnee children in the BiH entity of RS, who have been denied education in the Bosnian language, and the study of a national group of subjects.
Kavalec pointed out that the OSCE is committed to resolving these issues, and expressed hope that the authorities would remove discrimination from the BiH education system as soon as possible. She stressed, among other things, the importance of PISA testing, which is the world's largest research in education.
The officials discussed the current political situation in BiH, local elections, the necessity of adopting the Revised Strategy for Resolving War Crimes Cases, and marking the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Agreement.
It was pointed out that the OSCE Mission supports the holding of fair and honest elections, and that the Central Election Commission of BiH will have assistance and support in that regard in order for citizens to exercise their right to vote in a democratic manner.
Turković informed Kavalec that more than 100,000 BiH citizens from abroad had registered to vote at the local elections, which shows their desire to participate in the democratic process in BiH, PR Office of the MoFA of BiH announced.
